A Message from Kate...
Hello again
I have been so very busy recently that I’ve barely noticed the time passing – nothing new there! But I’ve crammed a lot into the first few months of the year. In February I was teaching Writing the Novel at the Fishguard writing weekend, and then I had a new novel to write with a deadline due at the end of March. Now, with that safely delivered and waiting for my editor’s opinion, I’m between books and using my time to catch up with things.
One of the most important things has been to bring my web site up to date again. I’ve neglected it while I concentrated on my new Greek hero and his lovely heroine Sadie. And there are quite a few updates to make. So I’ve been busy putting them in order.
First of all I want to thank everyone who bought a copy of my February/March release Cordero’s Forced Bride. This was a really great success for me and the ebook in particular sold fantastically on eHarlequin so that it’s now up in the top ten bestsellers for all the Presents ebooks on the site. And that’s all down to my fabulous readers who have supported me so well. Thank you all so much!
My next Modern Romance/Presents novel will be out in August in the UK and in October in America. There are lots of changes coming in the way that the books are going to be distributed so you will need to check on here and keep up to date with exactly when it is coming out and on which dates. Mills & Boon Modern Romance is having a revamp with a new look and a new publishing timetable and the changes will start to come in from June so if you’re in the UK keep an eye on what is happening to find out how things will be from now on. As soon as I get the exact details myself, I’ll published them here and on my blog so that you will get the most up to date news when I know it. In America, the Presents Extra line has been running for a while now, adding – as the name says – extra Presents titles in the middle of the month - and it’s in Presents extra that you’ll find my next book in October. This is my newest title, At the Sheikh’s Command. This is being reprinted as a 3 in one collection called Sold to The Sheikh. The other authors in the collection with me are Miranda Lee and Emma Darcy and this collection will come out in June.
For those of you who want to write romance and live in America or Canada, I have to let you know some exciting news. At long last there are plans for an American edition of my award-winning 12 Point Guide to Writing Romance. These are now in place and hopefully the book will be easily available in America very soon. Maybe even before the Romance Writers of America Conference in Washington in July. The publishers are working on this new edition right now and of course as soon as I get the details you need to know, I will post them on the Writers’ page on my site so that you will know exactly what to look for when you go book shopping. I have had lots of letters from writers wanting to know if there was any way they could get hold of this book more easily and quickly than ordering it from Amazon. Well, when this new edition comes out then hopefully you should be able to find it in the bookshops – and you can certainly order it more easily.
The other big news is the number of appearances and events that I’ll be doing this year. I had thought that after the 100th birthday celebrations for Mills & Boon died down that things would become quieter and lest busy – I was wrong! I have been asked to do so many workshops, talks, Reader’s Events that I’m now fully booked up until November! And next year I will be back at Fishguard in February, this time teaching Writing Romance on the Writers’ and Artists’ weekend there. Of course most of these events are in the UK but I will be at the RWA Conference in Washington DC in July where I will be taking part in the huge literacy signing at the beginning of the event. So if you are going to be there please come up and say hello. I’d love to see you.
For UK readers and would-be writers there are lost of events coming up through the next seven months in places all around the country – from Lincoln to Derby, Halifax, Barnsley and others. I’m even going to Haworth at the invitation of the Bronte Society to take part in a special event there. So please check out the Events page for details of exactly what’s going on. And if you do decide to come to any of these then again please come up and say Hi.
So as you can see there has been a lot happening with a lot to look forward to – and that’s before I launch the celebrations for my personal big event – the 25th anniversary of the publication of my very first book – The Chalk Line in 1984. I’ll be telling you more about that soon – possibly in my next letter at the next web site update.
So until then I hope you all keep well and happy and have lots of time to read and relax with some wonderful books.
Happy Reading!
Kate
