A Message from Kate...

Hello again!

I finally found the time to write my first letter of 2008—just don’t tell my editor that I’m writing this as I’m on a tight deadline and I’m supposed to be busy with my latest book.

But I must bring my web site up to date because this month is a very special month for the company that I write for and so for all the authors who are published by it. Because as many of you may already know, 2008 is a very important year for Harlequin Mills & Boon because this marks the centenary of the date when, in 1908, Mills & Boon was founded by Mr. Gerald Mills and Mr. Charles Boon. There will be all sorts of special celebrations coming up throughout the year and as soon as I get details for you I will be posting them up on my blog so that you will be up to date with all that's going on. I'm really proud to be writing for a company with such a great and successful history in their centenary year and I hope you'll enjoy all that's coming up to mark this event.

The celebrations start with a big party in London on February 7th and will continue all year. There will be a special exhibition which opens at Manchester Central Library in early June and then, I believe moves around the country. And there will also be a special publishing programme going on through the year. Part of this will be the Mills & Boon 100th Birthday Collection—a collection of novellas, all of which are published in ‘retro’ style covers. I’m thrilled to be able to say that one of my books will appear in this collection. This will be a reprint of my 2002 book The Duke’s Secret Wife which first appeared in the duo Society Weddings. As soon as I get a copy of the cover of this book, I’ll share it with you.

Apart from this special publication, I also have two more books coming out in 2008. The first of these will be Spanish Billionaire, Innocent Wife which is published in M&B Modern in March and in Presents in June. Then there will be The Duke’s Secret Wife in August, followed by Bedded By The Greek Billionaire which will be out in UK in September and in America in October. The details of Spanish Billionaire, Innocent Wife are already up on the site for you to see.

Also coming up in 2008 I hope to have some more exciting news about my 'How To Write' books. There’s a special project that I will be starting with Leena Hyat over on Tote Bags 'n' Blogs and already I’m being asked to do workshops and events throughout the year. News of these will appear on the Events page just as soon as I have the full details, I'll post them. The first of these is already listed there now.

The special project that I’m working on on Tote Bags ‘N’ Blogs is a series of articles about the craft of writing which I will be posting every month on the blog. They will run throughout the year and appear on the 12th of each month—so, not surprisingly, the series is called 12 Points on The 12th. I’ve already posted one of the articles on the 12th of January and there are more to come. If you’re interested in writing romance and learning more about it, then I hope you’ll come by and join in the discussions and chat.

And if you are interested in writing romance, then the big news for me recently is that the first edition of my award winning 12 Point Guide to Writing Romance is now totally SOLD OUT. My publisher tells me that there might be a copy or two on Amazon or Barnes and Noble, but there isn’t a single copy left in the warehouse. So as well as my novels, I have been busy working on a second edition. This will be totally revised and brought up to date and will have some exciting added extras... But I’ll not let you in on the details yet. Just as soon as the second edition is ready I will run a special launch here on my web site and on my blog and tell you all about it.
